Providing reservation in the appointment of law officers is a historic decision
Amritsar, April 17 Kuljit Singh
The Aam Aadmi Party government has created history by providing reservation for the SC community in the Advocate General’s office and this has made the community proud. These views were expressed by Attari MLA Jaswinder Singh Ramdas while talking to the media.
S. Ramdas said that the Punjab government has paid homage to those great personalities by putting up photos of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar in all government offices and now, by safeguarding their thinking, work has been started for social equality.
He said that it has been 75 years since the country became independent, but in all the High Courts of the country, SC/ST candidates are not allowed to be recruited as a state lawyer or government prosecutor. There was no reservation for them. He said that the previous governments, which called themselves Dalit-friendly, never raised their voice in favor of Dalits, they have only been using Dalits to get votes. He said that in 2017, the Aam Aadmi Party had demanded reservation for SC/ST in the High Courts of the state, but the then Congress government did not pay any attention to it. S. Ramdas said that our party had brought an amendment in the Act of 2017 and at that time, for the first time, reservation was given to fill 58 posts of Senior Advocate General or Additional Advocate General or Senior Deputy Advocate General or Deputy Advocate General, Assistant Advocate General or Advocate on Record. Which is a historic big decision taken in favor of the Dalits of Punjab and the Scheduled Tribes of Punjab.
