– No government except Aam Aadmi Party has thought about the welfare of the backward classes
6 Cabinet Ministers from the Scheduled Caste category in the government, the first step towards social equality
Amritsar, December 16
Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO thanked Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann for providing the benefit of reservation in the appointment of law officers by the Punjab government yesterday and said that he not only worshipped the pictures of Dr. Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh but also followed their footsteps and protected the principle of social equality.
S. Harbhajan Singh said that our party had been demanding since 2017 that the income limit for the appointment of law officers like appointments in other departments should be reduced for the Scheduled Castes, but the then government did not listen to us. Now we have amended the law and reduced the income limit for Scheduled Castes while appointing law officers, which has paved the way for their appointments.
The Cabinet Minister said that often due to this condition, the seats of the Scheduled Caste category remained vacant during the appointments of law officers, but with the amendment made now, this will not happen and this category will also get its due rights. He said that in the 77 years of independence, how many parties ruled, all of them took the votes of the Scheduled Caste category, but no party worked for their welfare. He said that now that our government has come, first six ministers were taken from the Scheduled Castes, then the backlog of this category in government jobs was completed and now the benefit officers were given exemption. The thing is, we are doing whatever we could for this category and will continue to do so.
