Chandigarh, October 26: The Haryana Police has issued detailed  guidelines to prevent any untoward incidents related to the sale and storage of firecrackers in the state. The police have directed strict legal action against individuals involved in unauthorized sales or storage of firecrackers without licenses. As per regulations, no one is permitted to store firecrackers without formal approval.

The Police Headquarters has instructed all Police Commissioners, Inspectors General, and Superintendents across the state to carry out thorough inspections. They are required to identify and list firecracker warehouses, sales points, and transport vehicles in their respective areas. Authorized officers, including SHOs and gazetted officials, will inspect these sites to verify licenses and ensure compliance with all necessary safety measures. Firecracker storage and sales points should be situated in open areas away from densely populated regions to allow for safe evacuation in case of emergencies.

Vendors are permitted to sell firecrackers only at designated locations with adequate fire safety measures. District authorities are advised to coordinate with shop inspectors and other team members to monitor compliance. Deputy Commissioners have been directed to form teams that will enforce government safety guidelines and maintain law and order in their jurisdictions. Police patrols and checkpoints will be set up at sensitive and commercial areas across the state to prevent any potential criminal activities during the festive season.

Departments have been instructed to stay on alert to handle incidents related to fire hazards, particularly on Diwali. Hospitals are also advised to be on standby to provide immediate treatment in case of fire-related injuries. The issued guidelines also urge officials to ensure strict adherence to the Supreme Court’s directives on the sale and use of firecrackers
